What is CSA?
Community supported agriculture is a stronger relationship between farmer and community member. CSA members sign up for weekly farm shares prior to the growing season and by paying up front, they help us purchase seed and equipment before planting begins. Members receive boxes of produce for weekly pick up from June to October and, in turn, take on some of the risk (and share in the reward!) of farming.
Hearts & Roots's certified organic CSA program runs for 16 weeks from late June until early October. We offer a weekly full share (we do not offer a half share, as we sell garden growlers for folks who need a bi-weekly or more casual option). The cost is $550 and pick up will be on Tuesday nights at Little Brown Jug or on the farm from 4:30 to 7 p.m. We accept a small number of folks into our CSA program so that members can get to know their farmers and we can get to know our customers!
Why Hearts & Roots?
We farm in good company in Manitoba, and one of the best parts of CSA is finding the right one for you. Our CSA is small in number, but big in taste and variety. Keeping it small ensures that we can offer our members specialty produce that we do not grow on a large scale and provide services that we wouldn't otherwise be able to offer - such as on-farm tours and our popular CSA Compost Club. We are also present at pick-ups to visit and chat anything farm-/food-related. Please fill out the form to your right and learn more about eating seasonally with us!
